We are delighted to welcome Sreeram Kannan into our community of Beacon Mentors.

Sreeram Kannan, Founder of EigenLayer and the Director of the University of Washington's Blockchain Lab, brings a wealth of experience and deep insights to our program. His research at UW spans a wide range of disciplines, including distributed computing, information theory, networking, and game theory of blockchain systems.

Those who have spent any amount of time in crypto recently will have heard of EigenLayer, one of the most exciting startups to have been founded in web3. Channeling his academic research in the field of Information Theory, Sreeram founded EigenLayer in 2022. EigenLayer introduces a validation marketplace that allows participants to freely re-stake/re-use their tokens in different networks rather than having their assets locked up in a singular location.

Before founding EigenLayer, Sreeram worked on many different technological domains such as peer-to-peer wireless systems, computational genomics, and AI. Sreeram says that he settled on blockchain because he believes the world of web3 is truly special. In Sreeram’s view, web3 allows him to empower many people throughout the world to also contribute to innovation - emphasizing the power of anonymity, community, and collaborative building.

We are so excited to have Sreeram join our community of mentors, and we know that our founders cannot wait to learn from one of the foremost innovators in the space.

If you’re eager to work with Sreeram and our other mentors, apply to the next cohort of Beacon here.
